Ben Bennett ist ein amerikanischer improvisierender Perkussionist sowie Komponist und Interpret akustischer experimenteller Musik. Sein Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Erforschung eigenwilliger, emergenter Klangstrukturen mithilfe von Objekten, die als Idiophone und Membranophone fungieren. Seine jüngeren Soloarbeiten, dokumentiert auf *Music for Idiophones* und *Rubbing Music*, beschäftigen sich mit dem dynamischen Stick-Slip-Verhalten alltäglicher flächiger Materialien wie Stahl, Glas, Sperrholz, Karton, Gummi und Polystyrol. Neben der Musik führte die Reduktion des Klangmaterials auf das Nichts zur YouTube-Dauerserie *Sitting and Smiling* (2014–laufend), und die Anwendung iterativer Prozesse auf gewöhnliche Sprache führte zu *Walking and Talking* (2017–laufend). Er ist ausgiebig durch Nord- und Südamerika sowie Europa getourt und trat als Solist und in verschiedenen Ensembles auf internationalen Festivals auf. Ben Bennett is an American improvising percussionist and composer-performer of acoustic experimental music. His focus is on discovering idiosyncratic emergent sound
structures using objects that function as idiophones and membranophones. His recent solo work, documented on Music for Idiophones and Rubbing Music, deals with
dynamic stick-slip behaviour of commonplace planar materials such as steel, glass, plywood, cardboard, rubber, and polystyrene. In addition to music, the reduction of sonic material to nothing led to the durational YouTube series Sitting and Smiling (2014-ongoing), and the application of iterative process to ordinary language led to
Walking and Talking (2017-ongoing). He has toured extensively throughout the Americas and Europe and performed in international festivals as a soloist and in various ensembles.
